Lackluster Couch

Well, folks, the glam of couch surfing is gone. Officially. I have become a bag lady in the past month, and have been so busy shuffling all my bags around, I haven't had any time to keep up on this blog!

Defining Bag Lady Moment: It was Monday, and my recyled paper Nike shopping bag and I went to the gym, along with my gigantic purse. Well, it started pouring. Upon leaving the gym, I donned my raincoat and went bravely into the night, sans umbrella (I feel pretty fearless in my raincoat). I was on my way to go eat somewhere while I waited for my friend to get off work so I could crash on her couch. Then the straps of my Nike bag broke. Unabashed, I picked my Nike bag up and carried it like a baby. I schlepped it through the rain, stopping at the corner only to realize that the entire contents of my Nike bag (sports bra, underwear, smelly gym shorts, etc), was about to spill out onto the sidewalk because the Nike bag was basically disintegrating. Luckily, a Duane Reade was nearby. Waiting in line to get a giant, weather-proof Duane Reade shopping bag, a man looked at my bag and me and said, "Looks like you got here in the nick of time".
"I sure believe so," I replied.

Yes, the couch hopping must end soon.
